ALTON TOWERS!!!! Why don't we perform a poll on the website? collect relevant ideas, inform everyone at the meeting and get people to cast their vote on here? The only problem I have with your proposed trips is the one to Dublin, good proposal but we're dedicated to protecting the environment and I would feel like a hypocrite if we were to take a cheap flight. Planes do considerable damage to the environment

i'd rather not go on anything too pricey considering our recent socials have been a steaming pile of horse shit, and I'm going to Italy about 8 days after the end of term anyway I'll need to save money.

so do buses, ships, cars and other transport but if we need a trip we need to have a bit of leyway somehow
these are ideas, and i already addressed the enviromental impact issues with people already
the poll is a good idea, mouse mate can you set one up please

right guys
you will all have until the 22nd 5pm to cast your votes. After this time the voting will be closed and the winning event will be proposed to committiee and then members to deside on the final outcome
this will need to be passed in the meeting on the 25th may so i can book and prepare with paul and nicola for the event.
at the moment looks like it will be a meal

A poll of these forums should not decide where we go, because only me, you, chris, mouse and Paul use them regularly. Hardly representative. A vote in the meeting is probably best.
Just a reminder, we are not modelled on the Bolshevik party or the dreaded Shopping Society. These organisations promote iron discipline in a disgusting, New Labourite way. It is not binding if you disagree with anything which the majority votes for. We are democratic, but not democratic centralists.
If we vote for Scarborough or ticket selling, it does not mean you HAVE to go to Scarborough or ticket selling. Blind obedience is dangerous and unhealthy, the Union's SS being a prime example.

well yes, but where on here did he say that this was particually binding? If we vote in a majority then others do not really want to go it doesn't matter either way. It just means that most the members will get a decent social to end the year with.

I was partly referring to Al's statement, the meeting before last, that the SS takes away privileges for those who don't attend ticket sales and so on. Democratic centralism in action.

ok fair enough, vote what you want to do or just tell some one and we will plan it
it still needs planning
just though having a simple firm idea and plan would move things along better
do what you feel best then let me know and ill help to book it with committiee

To reply to Liams earlier shopping society bashing. just before christmas, Liam and his wife Vicky showed interest in the Edinburgh trip and almost joined the society themselves. Come on Liam, you know i'm right. You cannot be disrespecting a society that you yourself almost joined. You are just as shallow as the rest of us shoppers, Shallow like a frisbee.
I say we go for a meal, it's the most logical option
with regards his shallowness, Team Al
